How to apply for a work visa in Australia

There are several subclasses under the Australian work visa. For instance,
  • Visas for senior foreign executives looking for domestic work
  • Visas for those who are coming for research of professional development, occupational training, or scientific research
  • Visas for people in Entertainment industry, and 
  • Visas for those who fall under skilled worker category and have been invited to be employed by an Australian company.

Below mentioned are the rules for Temporary work (Skilled) visa for Australia.

This is the visa for those who are hired by approved sponsors (employers). Under this visa, a person can stay in Australia for up to a period of four years and work in the occupation that he is chosen for by the employer.

Under this visa, you can also bring your family to Australia. Family members can also work in Australia or enroll in Australian institutes for education courses, as long as your visa is valid.In addition, you and your family members can travel from and to Australia as many times as you wish, while your visa is valid. All workers who are applying for this visa need to
  • Get their skills assessment conducted by a training organization, registered with Trades Recognition Australia.
  • Use the skills under VETASSESS for this temporary visa. 
  • Present their professional and educational qualifications certificates.
  • Get registration, licensing or professional membership. (Documents from relevant Australian authority that show you hold necessary registration and licensing requirements. These should tell the type of registration or licensing held and the name and contact details of registration authority.)
  • Take an English proficiency exam, IELTS or other. 
  • Have the references from previous employer(s) that cover the sufficient period to demonstrate the applicant’s skill level. This should be done on the letterhead of the organization and must include the name, title, and contact details of the referee and the details of the applicant’s position and dates of service. 
  • Have a CV (curriculum Vitae) covering the last five years of applicant’s service, which should mention the full employment and educational history, dates and positions held, and the name, title and contact details of referees.  
  • Go for health insurance for the duration of the stay in Australia.
